AgroTerra successfully finished seeding

30.06.2022

AgroTerra Group of Companies completed seeding on June 1. The first fields were traditionally seeded in the south. Kursk farms finished seeding first, followed by Lipetsk, and finally the farms in other regions.

This year, the start of the production season in Russia has been more struggling than ever, with farmers affected by both the weather and disruptions in the global supply chain. The last point produced almost no effect on AgroTerra: the specialists of the Group of Companies had purchased seeds in advance, as well as plant protection and nutrition products. The same applies to spare parts for machinery. The Technical service of Agroterra quickly explored the possibility of using Russian, Chinese and other analogues.

But the weather conditions were not so favorable: the spring turned out to be cool and rainy, so the seeding season began two weeks later than planned. At the same time, sugar beets and most of the spring wheat were seeded on schedule at AgroTerra, but the seeding of sunflower, corn, and soybeans was slightly delayed.

“We know how to take into account unfavorable weather during seeding. This time we worked in short agronomic gaps between rains and managed to carry out all agrotechnical operations. However, we are careful about the risk of excessive precipitation and monitor the occurence of soil crust. Seedling check-ups will take place in mid-June, but so far our experts note minimal risks. Now we are monitoring plants, intertilling and performing chemical protection,” said Sergey Stenin, Operations Director of AgroTerra.

AgroTerra is implementing innovation on an industrial scale in this seeding season while scaling up field trials on pre-seeding fertilization and micro fertilizers. Last year, experts from the Technology Development Center proved that the use of microfertilizers can increase crop yields. Current production field trials cover about 13,000 ha and are conducted on soybean and sunflower crops, as well as part of spring wheat and rapeseed crops.
