AgroTerra expands its agrochemical research

Each year, AgroTerra Group of Companies analyzes over 12,000 soil samples to evaluate the acid-base properties of fields, the content of phosphorus and potassium, and organic matter (humus). The results of these experiments allow not only to understand soil changes but also to optimize production technology. For example, data analysis is used in the optimization model to distribute fertilizers accurately.

AgroTerra has been analyzing soil samples in its own laboratory since 2016. All fields of the company are examined every 5 years. The data obtained helps increase production margins. AgroTerra, for example, began soil liming in fields with low pH levels in 2020. According to the results of field trials in 2022, soil liming increased wheat, barley, and rapeseed yields by up to 15%.

“We have been testing soil samples for pH since we founded our agrochemical laboratory, but field trials with soil liming have been conducted since 2021. For two years now, we have received only positive results, so we plan to significantly expand soil liming in 2023,” Konstantin Khaidukov, head of agrochemical research, comments on the experiments.

Furthermore, since 2021, specialists from the agrochemical laboratory have started to conduct soil compaction tests. Previously, deep tillage was used mainly for tilled crops. With the new data, tillage is recommended for the fields where it is really necessary. As a result, AgroTerra decreases costs, increases the efficiency of natural resource use, and preserves soil fertility by reducing the load on the soil.
