Across the North-Western, Central, and Volga federal districts, the condition of winter crops is mostly good, sometimes satisfactory. Although in some fields of the Kirov, Saratov, and Orenburg regions, winter crops have suffered due to winter damage, as reported by TASS with reference to Scientific Director of the Hydrometeorological center of Russia, Roman Vilfand.

“Part of the winter crops in the regions where AgroTerra operates this year died because of weather conditions: a large snow cover, frequent changes of frosty weather and thaws led to the formation of an ice crust, under which plants could not develop normally”, said Valery Redkin, Director of the Technology Development Center of AgroTerra. "Now we are reseeding winter wheat with spring wheat, as well as soybeans, and have already completed more than 50% of the planned work," he added.

AgroTerra is still seeding spring crops. “Normally, farmers in the Kursk region are the first to reach the fields, but due to weather conditions, farms in the Lipetsk region took the lead this year," Redkin told Agroinvestor. "Most farms have finished or are about to complete the seeding of spring wheat, malting barley, high-oleic rapeseed, and sugar beet. Seeding of soybeans and sunflowers has already started in the Kursk region, and seeding of sunflowers has begun on the irrigated fields where we produce corn and sunflower hybrid seeds."
